Kilkeel (approx. 2 miles south)
Kilkeel: ‘Church of the Narrows’ is the Capital of the Kingdom of Mourne and, as the name suggest, the town was developed from an Ecclesiastical site dating back to the 14th century, (the ruins of the Church of St. Colman still stand in the centre of the town). Kilkeel is a market town for the farming and fishing communities of the Mournes.It’s a popular holiday destination and an excellent base for touring the Kingdom of Mourne.
Kilkeel boasts the largest fishing fleet in Ireland. Moored within it’s harbour can be seen a colourful fleet of fishing boats from the smallest to the largest ultra modern vessels.
The town offers a great variety in shopping, Cafes, Bars and Restaurants.

Mountains
The Mournes: A combination of loughs, country parks, forests and mountains all surrounded by miles beautiful sweeping coastline. Designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). This designation aims to safeguard the natural beauty, wildlife and historic heritage of the area whilst promoting it for all.
